The Project, which refers to the Systems contract, includes the design of two new metro lines (line B and C) on a total of four forecasted lines in the holy city of Makkah. The mentioned metro system is a track line equipped with a third electrified rail with 45 km total length, 22 stations and 1 depot.

BACKGROUND

The Riyadh Metro project is part of the King Abdulaziz Public transportation project

Flow Consrtium, which is made up of (Hitachi Rail, Ferrovie Delo Stato, and Alstom) was awarded package 5 of the O&M project, which involves the full operations and maintenance of Lines 3,4,5, and 6 with a total length of 113km and 50 stations, including two main stations, five interchange stations, three depots and three operation control centres (OCCs).
The contract is based on global best practices and KPIs in urban metro O&M in passenger services, facilities management, transit system, health and safety and security, as well as local content. It carries a minimum Saudization target of 45%, and 55% for local content in terms of supplies and services related to the Riyadh Metro operation, in addition to logistic support.
